Gas Price and Ringgit Malaysia Update

As of Sunday night, the gas price in our area has officially dropped to below 2/gallon. 1.999/gallon to be exact. It is just so unbelievable yet so very true. The last time gas price was below 2/gallon was like in early 2005. Although we in SoCal have only started to get these below2/gallon gas price, I know for a fact that Cath in Virginia has been enjoying it for a while now. :P With the gas price going down fast, we only fill up our car $20/week which will give us slightly less than 3/4 tank and would last us for up to 9days if we stay local that is.

Ringgit Malaysia on the other hand is now at RM3.622 to USD1. That's 10cent down since the last time I made an update which was only a few weeks ago. I heard that it will be around RM3.80 for every dollar by year end. Who knows? We will just have to wait and see.

On another note, it is Thanksgiving here in the US on Thursday and Friday will be the famous shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Michael has already applied for an extra day off for Friday. We have yet to decide what we are going to do for Thanksgiving but I do plan to go visit the malls and factory outlets on Black Friday. I need to get a new pair of sneakers to replace my 5year old that I have been using. I have never gone this long with any sneakers before. I guess when you are a fulltime housewife and not a member of any gym club, the need to own different kind of sneakers for different kind of activities just disappeared.

Gas Price and Exchange Rate

Gosh! It has been a while since I updated on those 2 taboo subjects. But this time at least there is a positive result. At least for ur living in the US. As you all know, the gas price is gradually coming down. It was peaked at close to usd5/gallon. As of yesterday morning, Saturday Nov 1, it costs us 2.70/gallon although at noon when we were driving back fr the asian supermarket it went down to 2.66/gallon. Oh well, cant complaint too much. After suffering from a very high cost of gas the last 4-8 months, I am just so relieved that it is now back to what it was a year ago. Now, if only they bring down the price of goods as well. Everything went up when the gas price was up but when the price is down, nobody seems to want to bring down the price of goods.

Now, on the exchange rate, Ringgit Malaysia(RM) to USD it is not looking to good for Malaysian. Since Friday Oct 31, my exchange rate ticker on my notebook says that it is USD1 = RM3.553. It is of course good for Malaysian sending back money to home or if you are planning to go back and spend some moolah there. (Cath, Gert & Jannie, aren't you guys going back next year?)

How Picky is your Spouse with Food? and gas price update

Have I ever mentioned how picky Michael is with food? As a general rule of thumb, he practically eats any ground meat base food. Burger, hotdogs, spaghetti, meatloaf etc. He doesnt really like asian food since they dont really satisfy his hunger. Just like most of us asian/Malaysian who sometimes would look for an asian food even after eating a huge western meal.

But as much as he likes hotdog, he only eats the regular size hotdog from Oscar Mayer. They have bun-sized and bigger size hot-dogs which is a big no-no for him. When it comes to beef stew, it has to be from Dinty Moore. Once (before I knew how picky an eater he is) I made beef stew but he wont even eat it! Yup. He likes the taste of processed and msg-ed food. Now. Before any of you start saying, "processed food is not good" to me, let me clarify here that I tried changing the food to a healthier version but he is the type who would just not eat it if he doesnt like it. He's not like you and me who would just eat whatever is available. No maam! He told me that when he was a young boy, he slept in the kitchen on his kitchen chair by the kitchen table because his mom told him that, "you're not going anywhere until you finish your food"! Now, you dont expect ME to do that to him, do you? :P

He also doesn like seafood. But sometimes I do add some in something that he likes. Usually it will be my cekodok. He loves cekodok. If there's 1 Msian food that he asked me to make, cekodok is the 1. So a couple of times I added some anchovies (the small ones) or chopped prawns and he just ate them. He even said they were good. I of course didnt tell him abt the anchovies or the prawns. hehe. Well, they'r good for him and he's not allergy to them. He just doesnt like them for the sake of not liking them. Boleh? lol.

Last but not least, (you guys are so gonna love this!) he would not eat a 'deformed' food. You know sometimes when you bought the frozen chicken nuggets from the store and some of them are bound to be broken or chipped or something? He will not eat them! If im not around, he'd just throw them away. The same thing goes with hotdogs. They tend to break if you overcook or over heated them and for that, they're deemed 'deformed' and therefore not to be eaten by him.

This entry is not in any way a complain entry. I just thought that his eating habit is hilarious and worth sharing with my friends. How can I be angry when I asked him, " Did you finish all 4 of the hotdogs, Honey?" and his reply is something like this, "I ate 3. 1 was deformed so I threw it away"! Aaahhh.. I so love my husband.

This week gas price is at 3.78/gallon. :(((

Gas Price - Update

Sigh.. after almost 2 months at 3.45/gallon, the price is now cost more than 3.60/gallon. As of yesterday, it costs 3.63/gallon. Mind you, this is the cheapest kind at the cheapest gas station. Thank god our car does not require the expensive type of gasoline. :P

Looks like we might not have to wait for summer before we have to start forking out a lot more moolah to fill up the tank. Hybrid car or diesel sounds soooo good right now but getting yourself a hybrid is not cheap.

How much does it cost in your area? Share with me ok?

Up, up and Up!

I always keep track on the gas/petrol price here since its not like Malaysia where the price is the same which ever stations you go or whatever state you're in.

We try to always fill up at shell station near our place since its the cheapest place in 10miles radius. As of last Saturday, Nov 3, the price was 2.99/gallon. We still have about 1/4 tank left so decided not to fill up. On Sunday, we drove by the station again on the way to Target. Michael was driving, of course. Suddenly I went, "Oh my god!" and he, "what? what happen?". "The gas went up 4c. Its 3.03 now!" and he, just shook his head. I know. I know. I didnt mean to scream or surprised him while he's driving. It just came out ok?

Anyways, we didn fill up the tank either since the price just went up the day before so its likely gonna stay that way for at least a week. Come Tuesday which is the day that we have to return the dvd at blockbuster and also the day that we really need to fill up the tank. Guess how much was the gas? 3.11/gallon! Can you believe that? It went up another 8c. An while you're at it, let me tell you something else. Yesterday, (Friday) it went up again to 3.17/gallon. In the span of just S.E.V.E.N. days, the price went up to almost 20c/gallon. Sigh.... If only cars can run on water.
